I'm going = the symposium is in February. Everybody should check it out, the classes look great and Aqua Adventures will haul your gear if you want to fly up.

I've been considering going. Even plan to get a dry top to compliment my wetsuit to handle the cold. I may check with Jen and get some suggestions on classes. I don't want anything too easy OR over my head. I'd like to do some intro to tidal races and some sort of rough water class.

Saw the e-mail from Aqua Adventures and have been thinking about it myself.
John - I'd be very interested in the intro to tide racing as well. Either that or the intro to rockgardening. Unfortunately they have conflicting schedules :( |

I will be at Aqua Adventures tommorow and check this out...although a kayak symposium and San Francisco seem to good to pass up!

I'd be very interested in the intro to tide racing as well. Either that or the intro to rockgardening. Unfortunately they have conflicting schedules :( How about this... Friday: Combat Rescues – tide & waves Saturday: Riding the Tide Sunday: Coastal Passage Advanced Day Trip Not sure just how advance the day trip on Sunday would be, but my thought is that each day prepares you for the next AND you could probably get feedback from the instructor on how well they think you'll do on the next class. |

I like...but with one exception. Advanced rockgardening on sunday! I'm a quick study, I bet I could get my skills up to par in time. Now just to find some rock gardens in San Diego.... Edited by William on Sep 11, 2009 2:07 PM |

Now just to find some rock gardens in San Diego.... You should really join me in the surf. San Onofre is great and not too far for you. There are some surf locations in San Diego (not La Jolla which is normally too small or crowded), but I'm not sure where is best. Jack Brisley posts some rock gardening on the CKF list at times -- he's great for introducing folks. I've seen what 'advanced' rock gardening can be and I'm not sure I personally am up for that, but the easier stuff is pretty fun. |

Mailed my registration in today
![]() Fri - combat rescues Sat - riding the tide Sun - rock gardening (advanced play) I talked to Jen this past weekend and she had nothing but good things to say about this symposium. She said last year the weather was sooo beautiful that they weren't about to do the 5 star assesment...the conditions were too easy! She also said that they're still working on the schedule but that they'd be offering the tide racing and rock gardening (intro) on both saturday and sunday. I went ahead and signed up for the advanced class just to hold a spot but will switch to the intro class when it becomes available. |

I don't know him, but Mike Bode at the ckf site posted some photos of last year's event. The tide races are scaaarrry looking! I'm going to be spending a lot of time in the water......... I'm glad to hear that a few of us are going.
Everybody - check out the classes. I got my registration in (yeah, its early), but I got all of the classes I wanted. If you want to work on skills and meet people its going to be a great 3 days! sueb |
