You'll get invited to our Meetups as soon as they're scheduled!
I have no experience in doing this but I was hopping there is some one who have done this before and willing to organize a trip or it might take few trips to see whales. That would be an awesome trip. I know their is a season for the whales migration, so the trip have to be with in the season.
How about a meet-up for 9am Sat 8/29 or Sun 8/30 in Dana Point (Mother's Beach near Youth Cntr). Ample parking close to the launch point. I'll be doing 3 or 4 laps around Dana Harbor Island (~2 miles each), recording each lap on GPS, regrouping after each lap. This will allow people of different speeds to join/leave, catch up/fall behind and regroup easily. We can venture out in open water depending on conditions, always staying close enough to run back to calm waters ;-) I'm intermediate and okay to solo and assist rescues, but could do with more experienced than me if it's a big group or novices. I'm working on fitness, open water skill and some bracing / turning skills in the harbor. I think anyone with a sit inside would enjoy and can contribute, probably SOT not so much. This is a great way to practice skills and fitness. Depending on the group 2-4 hrs, but easy to come late leave early. Likely this will be a weekly meet-up. Thoughts ?
Thanks for a great group ! Nicol
